The school holiday portfolio sessions are great for young artists who may be needing to create a portfolio of work to apply for Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts, other school CAPA groups or just because they love creating and want to expand or learn new creative skills.

In this session we will be covering: PAINTING
Form, texture, lighting, sketching, shading, perspective and details will be covered.
Here’s what will be happening on the day
• Watercolour painting on watercolour paper
Learn how to paint some aquatic creatures step by step with the tutor (1hr)
Paint an underwater ocean scene using a variety or brushes and painting techniques (1hr)
11-11.30am – BREAK (BYO lunch)
• Gouache brush painting on canvas board
Gouache paint is like a cross between watercolour and acrylic paints. Amazing results can be achieved when this paint is used in the right ways. In this session young artists will use Ironlak gouache paints with brushes to create a vibrant sunset work on canvas.
1.30pm-2pm – BREAK (BYO lunch)
2pm – 4pm
• Mixed media painting – spray paint and acrylic brush painting on canvas board
Use spraypaint to create a majestic night sky and then work some landscape details in using brushes and Ironlak heavy body acrylic paints
Anchors Aweigh Art Studio is a safe, functional and relaxed art studio that encourages students to work at their own pace, experiment with mediums and techniques and think outside the box, all under the guidance of our tutors who are professional artists, all with Working With Children checks and extensive experience.
